The general process for registering an out-of-state entity in Missouri:

1. Order a recent certificate from home. Item 7 of the Missouri form requires a current certificate of good standing or existence from your home state, dated within 60 calendar days of filing.

2. Designate a Missouri registered agent. You can use a commercial registered agent service or appoint an individual who lives in Missouri.

3. File Form LLC 4 ($105). Missouri's foreign LLC registration form costs $105, filed online through Missouri Business Filings or mailed to the Corporations Division in Jefferson City. Paying electronically adds a modest convenience charge that the state itself doesn't keep. If your name doesn't work in Missouri, give the name you'll do business under on line 2.

4. Enjoy Missouri's light upkeep. Missouri asks LLCs for no annual report, so there's no yearly state filing to make. You only file again to change your name, your home jurisdiction, or your agent.
